As he was about to sacrifice his son in the name of Allah, God gave him a lamb and told him to replace that in his son’s place. From that day, it became a tradition to sacrifice animals like goats, camels, and sheep, and more religiously on this occasion. Then the meat is distributed among the family, friends, and the poor and needy.
