Shikakai: Nourishing and Healing the Body
Meera was anxious throughout the lockdown. She desired a day of self-care to unwind and relax. She realised it wasn't like her childhood days after observing several videos on how to relax on social media. Her mother used to oil her hair and then rinse it with a mixture of Shikakai and Amla powder after an hour. After the treatment, her hair would become luscious and soft.
For hundreds of years,Shikakai has been used in India for hair treatment. Shikakai is a part of traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine which means “fruit for hair”. The tree's pods, leaves, and bark are high in vitamins A, C, D, E, and K.
It can be used as a shampoo, hair oil, or even as a hair mask to nourish and speed up the growth of hair.It is an herb used to control hair fall and dandruff. Shikakai is used as a shampoo as it has cleansing and antifungal properties to help manage hair fall and prevent dandruff. It provides shine to the hair and prevents greying.
Meera indulged in some self-care with an at-home spa day and soulful songs. She was relieved to be able to switch to a natural treatment option.
